They find that vegetarians generally have lower body fat, more antioxidant levels and most importantly better cardiovascular health. Especially important is vegetarians have better artery health.

Why is it important to have good cardiovascular health?

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in North America at 23%, followed by all types of cancer at 21%.

In third place are accidents, at 5%.

In fourth place is a lower respiratory disease, at 5%.

Interestingly, stroke is in 5th place, which heart disease is a big risk factor.

So it’s fair to say, keeping your heart and arteries is very important.

What are some general principles to limit your risk factors?

In general, keeping a healthy weight, eating healthy and exercising regularly are all crucial.

Furthermore, for many diseases, chronic inflammation can do tiny damages and over time add up to big enough damage to cause you problems.
